“That’s Entertainment”, Indie style

Saturday 9 April 2011

In the 1970’s MGM released a series of films about the history of their studio that was really a long ad for their movies.

This is sort of the indie version of that. It’s the story of the National Film Registry, a department of the Library o Congress dedicated to the preservation and restoration of films deemed to have cultural, historical, or artistic significance. The Registry houses a vast collection of old film reels, particularly nitrate films, which are especially vulnerable to aging. Every year 25 films are selected for inclusion in the Registry by a board of knowledgable individuals from film and film education organizations.

Highly recommended, even for those who are not film buffs. 5 out of 5.
